Accommodation is usually the biggest line in a travel budget. A week away can easily run into thousands of dollars before you’ve eaten a single meal out.

A home swap works differently. You stay in another member’s home. They stay in yours. Neither of you pays the other a nightly rate, and there’s no commission on the swap.

One of our first members had just spent around $600 a night on local accommodation when she discovered Home Swap Club through a handwritten community notice.

At that rate, a six-night stay works out at roughly $3,600. She worked out that a swap could have saved most of it. She would have stayed in another member’s home, and that member would have stayed in hers.
